Located in the heart of Noosa on the Sunshine Coast this superb 18-hole layout is cleverly designed and immaculately maintained, provides a delightful challenge for golfers of all skill levels.
The championship golf course is rated among the best in Australia. Its 18 holes meander through lush rainforest and spring-fed lakes. As you walk its pristine fairways, golfers catch glimpses of Lake Weyba and Noosa National Park. And when the round’s complete they can relax in the magnificent clubhouse
Designed by Graham Marsh, the club’s par-72 course and modern clubhouse took three years to construct, and the first rounds were played in June 2015. In the years since, its reputation as a fine test of golf and the quality of its playing surfaces has grown. Marsh created a layout which appeals as a challenge for players of all standards, while the playing surfaces the Bermuda Tifeagle greens are superb. Marsh’s green contouring and variety of shapes have been complemented by the smooth rolling surfaces and are a lot of fun to putt on. The course is also a wildlife sanctuary with almost 100 species of birdlife and the odd kangaroo.
The course is internationally recognised as one of the top six resort courses in Australia. The 18-hole, par 72 championship course was designed by five times British Open champion Peter Thomson and partner Mike Wolveridge. The stunning setting and challenging layout combine to produce an enjoyable game of golf for all players.
Peregian Golf Course is a true golfer's course. The superb layout over 62 impressive hectares is the work of top Australian designer Phil Scott, father of Adam Scott.
It takes players on an unfolding journey through native bush, stands of eucalyptus trees and strategically situated water
The course presents golfers with memorable challenges. From long, narrow par 5s to short par 4s with sloping greens, Peregian Golf Course puts a premium on accuracy and shot making. The course is also well protected by bunkers, positioned to make players think.
The Palmer Coolum Resort Course (formerly Hyatt Coolum) was considered one of Australia’s best championship resort courses and hosted some of the world’s best players at the annual PGA championship. The course has now been reopened and brought back to life it will be great to play it again.
Tournament Competition
You don’t have to be a great golfer to join this event, you just need an official handicap. The tournament is a stableford competition, women’s and men’s divisions, there will be daily and overall prizes. In the interest of fair play if you win an overall prize, you will not be eligible to win a daily prize. We will be using the regular tees for men and women (not the championship tees)
As with many golf tours there are always a number of people who like to have a bet. We will have a daily betting pool for those who wish to partake $10 entry per round, women’s & men’s division. 1st, 2nd & 3rd paid out.
Handicaps
After each round players will be re-handicapped down or up depending on their days score. Anyone playing within 2 strokes of their handicap, there will be no change for the next round. Score three or four, better or worse than your handicap and your handicap for the next round will be plus or minus one stroke. Score five or more strokes “better or worse” will result in, minus or plus 2 strokes for your next round. The maximum handicap movement will be 2 strokes a day.
The Draw
The draw and other tournament information will be available at the welcome function. The first and second round of the event we will have partners and friends playing together after that we mix players up; the final round will be women’s and men’s groups with the players leading the overall competition playing together.
There are only two official functions associated with the event, the welcome function on the 1st of August and the final night prize presentation dinner on the 7th of August.
However, as many people like to get together for a few drinks before heading out to dinner each evening we will have a designated bar for people to get together for happy hour.
There will be a number of people who will choose to rent a car when they arrive at Brisbane or Sunshine Coast airport, there are some particularly good online deals available for mid- size cars at around $35 - $40 day if you rent a car there is free parking available at the Mantra. If you rent a car and don’t need the daily transfer to golf you can deduct $150 off the golfers package price .
